Kathmandu, built by Gunakama Dev in 723 A.D. is the capital city named after Kasthamandap, an imposing wooden pagoda near Hanuman Dhoka.

Hanuman Dhoka, the traditional seat of royalty in Nepal, the site where His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev was crowned, is in the heart of Kathmandu.
